Where Connor and JT Go Dallas/Fort Worth Hilton Anatole Art Walk

Hilton Anatole Art Walk

I was really excited about staying at the Hilton Anatole on our trip in June. I had taken a look at their website and knew that is where I wanted to stay. The Hilton Anatole is a beautiful hotel in Dallas that houses a large collection of art.

The hotel itself is huge, much bigger than I was expecting. When we arrived I wasn’t sure where to park because there were so many parking lots. I finally picked one and we checked in.

What you see here is only part of the hotel. This is the section that we stayed in- Atrium I.

Our third day at the hotel we went on the Art Walk. If you go to www.AnatoleArt.com you can listen to audio for a 1 mile Art Walk. There are two large elephants at the Chantilly entrance of the tower. These elephants mark the start of the tour.

In between the elephants you can also see a marble pavilion created in India in the 18th century. The pavilion used to be on the grounds of a palace.

From there you continue counter-clockwise through the hotel.

This is much more modern marble piece. It was created in 2005 in Vietnam.

This was a beautiful piece that the boys loved. It was made from jade, amethyst, and lapis lazuli among other things. There were two of these sculptures and there is actually a picture of this exact one on the Anatole Art website where you can take a look at the detail a little better. However, I really think that these need to be seen in person to really appreciate their beauty.

This is a bronze Buddha from the 17th century. The audio said to make sure to rub his tummy for good luck before moving on... so we did.

Soon after that we stopped at the bathroom. In the bathrooms, the women’s at least, they have a salt scrub to use after you wash your hands. They boys loved this. It was really nice and made your hands very smooth. It said they had it available for purchase in the gift store and Connor really wanted to buy some to take home but we never got around to checking the gift store.

After that we continued on through the inside a little more and then out to the sculpture garden.

This is not a piece of artwork but it is a historical artifact. It is one of three salvaged propellers from a British ocean liner that was built in 1906 and sunk by a German U-boat in 1915.

After the Buddha the tour headed back inside and this is where we stopped. We got through about half of the Art Walk and I was hoping we’d be able to finish that evening or the next morning but we never had time to. There was also a Art scavenger hunt on the Anatole Art website that I wanted to do as well.

I don’t have any more pictures of the Art Walk but I do have a few more of the hotel.

I really enjoyed staying at this hotel and would absolutely recommend it for anyone traveling to Dallas. Even if you don’t stay at the hotel I think that visiting to tour the art is a must and hopefully we’ll be able to go back to the Hilton Anatole and finish the Art Walk.

  1. Nice entry and great photos. I’m glad you took advantage of the art at the Anatole. I live in Dallas and am always looking for interesting artworks – never thought of visiting the hotel. Now I’m going to have to stop by.

    Thanks for sharing.
