Christmas Light Fest

Christmas Light Fest was our 6th holiday event on our Texas Christmas tour. Christmas Light Fest is held at the Don Strange Ranch in Boerne.

There are two ways to tour the lights. You can drive through in your own vehicle or you can take a hayride. We opted for the hayride and I made a reservation for a private group hayride for one of our homeschool groups. We arrived pretty early before our scheduled time and it was cold so we decided to wait in the car for a little bit. Once it got closer to our time we went out to the waiting area. There was some seating and a fire pit to keep warm. Finally it was our time to go on the hayride. Once we were all seated we were givens some instructions as to what was going to happen and then off we went. The hayride takes you through one side of the lights and then drops everyone off at Santa’s Village for about an hour.

When we arrived at Santa’s Village, we hopped off the trailer and took a quick picture on the sleigh before heading into the barn. Once inside the barn we went over to take a picture with Santa and then got some hot chocolate and a snack. There were also some vendors set up inside as well as free cookie decorating. For seating, there were large round tables. Each of the tables had a winter scene centerpiece; I though these were really cute. We spent most of our time sitting at one of tables while we waited for our pickup time. When it was almost our pickup time we went back outside to take a few more pictures before getting back on the hayride for the last half of the lights.

We had never done a drive through Christmas light attraction before and the hayride at a Christmas Light Fest was a really fun option.
