Where Connor and JT Go San Antonio,Texas Dr. Diabolical’s Sceampunk Bash

Dr. Diabolical’s Sceampunk Bash

Two Saturdays ago, Connor and I attended Dr. Diabolical’s Screampunk Bash. This is an after-hours event being held in celebration of the grand opening of Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger at Six Flags Fiesta Texas.

The after-hours event does require an extra ticket along with park admission, but it is definitely worth the extra ticket. The event was held from 9:30pm-11:30pm in the Crackaxle Canyon Screampunk District.

Connor and I arrived at the park at about 8:50pm, 10 minutes before closing. Upon entering the gate, we were told that check in for the event was in the Mercado. The Six Flags Mercado is the first gift shop as you head into the park. We headed over there but weren’t sure where to check in so since we had about 5 minutes till park closing, I asked Connor if he wanted to go on Goliath, the coaster at the very front of the park, really quick. He did of course, so we walked over there and he hopped in the single rider line.

After riding Goliath, we headed back into the Mercado and checked in for the bash at the check-out counter. We were given our lanyards and grand opening buttons. (Connor ended up losing his button twice.) With the lanyards we had an event pass with the correct date hole punched on it. There was also a spot on the pass for the employees to hole punch once we picked up our drink.

Once we picked up our stuff, we headed over to the Crackaxle Canyon Screampunk District. Since it wasn’t 9:30pm yet nothing was running so we just walked around and looked at things. Once 9:30pm hit we went straight into Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger. Connor had already ridden it the day before and I’m glad he did. They did a really great job with the queue. There’s even a preshow but they weren’t running it during the event; we just walked straight through.

Since the crowd was so low, as long as the train wasn’t full you could just get back on and ride again. I rode it once and once is good for me. Connor rode it again it though. During that ride is when Connor lost his button the first time. I asked at the gift shop if it was possible to get another one and they were able to give him one.

From Dr. Diabolical’s we went over to Iron Rattler so Connor could ride that. He said that it was awesome and is currently #2 on his coaster rankings. We got straight back in line after so that he could ride it again.

After Iron Rattler we both rode the Roadrunner Express and then we decided to go get our drinks. On the way to get the drinks we saw the Dr. Diabolical was coming back out, so we took some pictures first.

The drinks were being served at the Thirsty Buffalo Saloon. They were supposed to be Dr. Diabolical’s Fountain of Youth Potion drinks in a light up collectible cup, but all we got in our cups were water. So that was disappointing. A little later when we were at Iron Rattler again someone asked me if we had gotten drinks in our cups; I told him no. He said he hadn’t either and someone told him they had run out earlier. I’m not sure what time they ran out, but it was almost 11pm when we went to get ours.

Our next stop after picking up our cups was Dare Devil Dive Flying Machines. Connor rode it and said that it was actually more fun than he thought it would be.

With just under 30 minutes left we went back to Iron Rattler so Connor could ride that one more time. This is where Connor realized he lost his button again. We didn’t ask for a replacement this time. I told him he can just have mine.

Then we ended the night with Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger. Connor was able to ride once and was hoping to get back on once the ride came back but they announced there would be no more re-rides at that point.

Connor and I really enjoyed this event. It is totally worth the extra ticket. Since it was an after-hours event there wasn’t much of a crowd. This was really nice because it meant all of the rides were walk-ons. On top of that we also received several items. Besides the lanyard, button, and cup, we also received a Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger Fiesta medal as we were exiting the park. I would definitely attend any other after-hour events that they decide to make.

I highly recommend attending Dr. Diabolical’s Screampunk Bash. At the time of posting this, there are 3 dates left- August 13th, 20th, and 27th.
