Our Indoor Skydiving Experience at iFly

*Disclosure: We received complimentary iFly packages in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own honest opinions.*

Have you ever wanted to try skydiving? Did you know that you experience skydiving without having to leave the ground? Last week Connor and I visited iFly San Antonio for some indoor skydiving.

I had actually been indoor skydiving about 20ish years ago in Las Vegas but iFly was a bit of different experience for me. Connor had been wanting to try out iFly for quite awhile now so he was both excited and nervous. When we got there he wasn’t sure whether or not he actually wanted to try it.

Walking into iFly, we were quickly greeted and checked-in and then instructed to wait in the next room until it was our turn to get ready to fly. The room we walked into held the vertical wind tunnel in the center of the room. The room was spacious and there was plenty of seating.

While we were waiting for our flight time we got to watch some of the instructors fly. The instructors are able to do lots of really cool tricks with their flying and it’s really fun to watch them.

After waiting for our flight time to come up, it was finally time to get ready to fly. First we were taken into the preflight room. We watched a short video about the flight position and the hand signals that would be used in the wind tunnel.

Once the video was over, it was time to put on our flight gear. We each received a flight suit, helmet, goggles, and ear plugs to put on.

Here’s Connor in his flight suit. I wanted to get a picture with the rest of his flight gear on but we had put our stuff back in the lockers and we got locked out. I asked our instructor about it and he said he had a key that he could use to open it but I didn’t want to make him open it up just so we could take a picture.

As soon as the other group finished up their flight session in the wind tunnel, it was our turn. We lined up and sat down inside and then it was time to fly. Each person flies for a minute at a time. I went second in the group and it did not go so smoothly. I remembered the flight position; it was the exact same as from when I did it a long time ago but as soon as the wind hit my face I couldn’t do it. I tried to keep my chin up to block the wind from hitting me directly in my face as best as I could but I just could not do it and I ended flipping over. Connor went in after me and he did better than I did but I could tell the wind got to him too. It wasn’t until we looked at his video that we realized it looked like he was swimming because he was kicking his legs. He said that he didn’t know that he was doing that and he felt like his legs were straight. Everyone gets to turns to fly so I went ahead and gave it another try and just tried to relax and breathe and I felt like I did better but I couldn’t do the whole minute. Connor decided not to take his second turn.

Although we may not have done as well, there were some others that were really great at it and I loved watching them. I thought it was so much fun to see them do the high fly. If I could manage to get the breathing thing down then I’d be good. Connor said that he’d like to try it again but he needs to practice having the wind blow in his face. I agree, I definitely need to practice with the wind blowing in my face. I can’t even breathe correctly if the wind is blowing hard and I’m walking or just standing; I have to turn away. Regardless, it was a fun experience and I’m so glad that Connor got to try it out because it is something he had been wanting to do.

If you’re thinking about giving iFly a try, you can check out some more info on their website here. iFly also offers birthday party packages and field trip packages. The field trips are STEM based and include experiments along with a flight in the wind tunnel. We have homeschool friends that have done the iFly field trips and we’ve heard nothing but good things about it. Everyone always ends up having so much fun.

Have you tried the Lone Star Stack?

Last month McDonald’s launched the Lone Star Stack in Texas and Connor and I got to attend a VIP Tasting Party.

We usually only ever go to McDonald’s for breakfast so I had not had a McDonald’s burger in forever and Connor said that he’s never had one ever. I feel like he must’ve had one in a happy meal at one point but I guess he only ever orders nuggets.

When we arrived at McDonald’s we were sent upstairs to where the party was and Connor picked a table by the window to sit at. The tables looked really nice. They were set with Texas flag bandannas, blue flowers in red vases with a star tied around the vase, and the tasting menu.

001

006

Trays of nuggets and salads were being passed around for the appetizer course. The first round of nuggets we received were with sweet and sour and Connor did not like the sweet and sour at all. We looked around to find him nuggets wit BBQ or ranch but couldn’t find any. Eventually though someone came around to our table with some.

The salads we received were ranch salads but there were supposed to be southwest salads as well. We never saw them though.

003

004

While we were waiting for the main course we decided to go get our picture taken at the photo booth that was set up with the Lone Star Stack props.

007

As soon as we finished with our picture the main course started to arrive. The fries arrived first and they were hot, fresh, and delicious. I think Connor finished all of his before his burger arrived.

009

At last the Lone Star Stack arrived. The Lone Star Stack is 2 quarter pound beef patties, exactly 5 pickles, applewood-smoked bacon, 1 slice of white cheddar, 1 slice of american cheese, caramelized onions, and sweet onion BBQ sauce in between 2 slices of Texas toast.

011

I’ve never had BBQ sauce on my burger so I wasn’t sure of how I would like that but I actually really liked it. I thought the Lone Star Stack had a really good flavor. The sweet onion BBQ sauce went really nicely with everything else and the burger was very well seasoned. I did take out the bacon though but that’s just because I don’t like bacon on my burger. I did try a bite with the bacon just to get the full flavor of the burger and it was fine but I prefer it without the bacon. Overall though, Connor and I both liked the burger.

While we were enjoying our Lone Star Stacks Ronald McDonald came by and took a picture with Connor.

015

Once we finished our burgers we hung around awhile for some dessert. The first items that came by were chocolate shakes and chocolate chip cookies. Connor didn’t want either of those but I took both. Next was the strawberry banana smoothie and last was what Connor had been waiting for- the Oreo McFlurry.

022

023

024

After dessert it was time to go. Connor and I had fun at the party and surprisingly I really liked the Lone Star Stack. If you’re in Texas and haven’t tried it yet make sure to do so soon because it’s only here for a limited time and then let us know what you think of it.

Orderup San Antonio

Orderup is a restaurant in San Antonio with a menu that consists of pizza, burgers, and tacos.

064

We attended a pizza for breakfast event in November. I’ve been meaning to write about it for quite awhile but keep getting behind. This was our first time at Orderup and we really enjoyed it. We got to try a lot of food and it was all very good.

We started off with the pizza.

The first one was the Green Eggs and Ham. This one has eggs, ham, cheese, and avocado. It was very good. JT loved it.

Next they brought out some chips and queso which we all loved.

While the boys were eating the queso I also got a pulled pork taco.

The taco was really good as well and had a watermelon pico de gallo.

I loved the sweet potato fries. The regular fries were good too but I happen to be a big fan of sweet potato fries.

By this time we were getting full but we still had one more thing coming.

Pepperoni pizza- We all took a slice of this and brought the rest home.

The pizza was also good but we took most of it home.

We were also sent home with some dessert.

We brought home cinnamon rolls. Connor loved these.

Disney Social Media Moms On the Road- Austin- Part 1

Last month I attended the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration On the Road. The one I attended was in Austin at the Intercontinental Stephen F. Austin hotel. I am super excited that I was lucky enough to get invited. I really learned a lot and had a great time.

Registration started at 7:45 a.m. and I got there exactly at that time. As we arrived we received a lanyard with our names and a gift bag. Once we were checked in we were able to find a seat and get some breakfast. I didn’t get a picture of breakfast but they provided us with a really nice spread that included, pastries, croissants, eggs, potatoes, and more.

059

062

At 8:30 was when it actually started and we started off by doing some pin trading. I was given an Alice in Wonderland teapot pin. I walked around, met a few other bloggers, and ended up keeping the same pin. It’s cute though so that’s okay.

063

Once pin trading was over the conference was kicked off by Leanne J O’Regan and Jamie Langdon.

We watched some really fun Disney Side videos like the Pirates of Central Park and the character surprise at the mall.

We also watched an adorable Kids Remember Mashup video.

We also heard a bit about some of the changes going on at Disney World. One of these being the transformation of Downtown Disney into Disney Springs. Another change is the addition of the bungalows at the Polynesian.

We were also reminded of that this year is Disneyland’s 60th Anniversary. If you can’t get over to Disneyland for their Diamond Celebration you can still celebrate my creating a video at mydisneylandvideo.com.

After Jamie was done speaking it was time for us to hear from Jennifer Fickley-Baker. Jennifer talked to us about storytelling and creativity.

Jennifer told us a story about how light painting came about. It’s really cool. You can take a look at my picture below but for better pictures take a look here.

Jennifer also left us with a great quote:

“Pushing past logic is where creativity begins.”

She told us that listing is a great way to do this because when you first start making a list logic kicks in but once you get past logic that’s where creativity starts.

I’ve been wanting to get this done for weeks so I’m putting this up as part 1. Stay tuned for part 2.

Have a magical day everyone!

Pizza Fun at CiCi's

Last week the boys and I were lucky enough to get invited to CiCi’s Pizza for a blogger event. We had a lot of fun. The boys got to play games, color, and make their own personal pizzas while I learned about the new limited time Unlimited Stuffed Crust Pizza and Fiery Mango Tango Pizza.

067

The CiCi’s we went to was really nice inside. I imagine it’s a newer one. The one by our house has been around for a very long time and but this one really looked brand new. The restaurant was laid out really well and it felt very open and spacious. The arcade was also nice and open as well.

The first thing that we did was learn all about the new Unlimited Stuffed Crust Pizza. We got to see exactly how it was made before getting to make our own.

The dough is made fresh daily and once it is put into the pan the edges are then pressed up on to the sides of the pan.

011

012

The next is putting 100% real mozzarella cheese along the edges and wrapping the dough over the cheese.

023

014

018

Once both sides of the stuffed crust are done they par-bake the crust before adding the toppings.

019

020

Moving on to the toppings-the sauce is spread on carefully to avoid it getting on the stuffed crust edge. Next, cheese is sprinkled on top of the sauce and then 20 pepperonis are placed on the pizza. The pepperonis are placed in 4 rows of 5. The pepperonis that are on the edge overlap the crust slightly and then the next row overlaps that row slightly. The reason they have such a strategic way to place the pepperonis is to ensure that when they cut it each slice has exactly 2 pepperonis.

025

026

029

Before the pizza goes into the oven they sprinkle on Italian seasoning.

035

Once we knew how to assemble our pizzas we lined up to make our own.

While we had been learning to make the Unlimited Stuffed Crust pizza the kids had already made and started eating their own pizzas.

044

047

As we waited for our pizzas to bake we learned about the Fiery Mango Tango Pizza. This pizza was inspired by Eddie Jackson’s winning pizza on Food Network Star. The pizza is made with a blend of mango, pineapple, and jalapeno with a cream cheese icing all on a cinnamon sugar crust.

050

053

Once our Stuffed Crust Pizza was out of the oven we had to put on the finishing touch- garlic butter on the crust. We also learned how to cut the pizza.

I really enjoyed my Stuffed Crust Pizza, especially the stuffed crust part. The boys got to have some at home for a snack since I only ate one slice of pizza at CiCi’s. Connor especially really loved it. He actually ate full slices which he doesn’t normally do.

074

076

We also received gift bags and inside was a $10 gift card that we’re giving away. The giveaway is running on our Facebook page until Monday August 3rd at 9pm central time. If you’d like to enter head over to the page and comment with your favorite pizza.

008

CiCi’s Unlimited Stuffed Crust will be on the menu until October 25th and the Fiery Mango Tango Pizza is only on the menu until August 16th. Make sure to stop by your nearest CiCi’s location soon if you’d like to try both.

MyPrintly Mom Meet-Up

Last week I attended the MyPrintly Mom Meet-Up in Austin. I took my cousin with me and we had lots of fun trying out some new HP and MyPrintly products.

FullSizeRender1

023

This was my first blogger event so I was super excited to have been invited. Luckily we left 2 1/2 hours before the event started because it took us the entire time to get there which I was not expecting. We actually got to Austin in about an hour but then because of traffic it took us another hour and a half to get to the Omni Downtown. I mapped out the location from where the traffic started to the hotel and it only about 5 miles. We made it though on time and when we went to check in we received our badges, gift bag, like stickers, raffle tickets, and a card with a rundown of all the stations.

Once we entered the room we decided to start at the Product Showcase Station. At this station we learned about HP’s Instant Ink program. This is a really great program in my opinion and very useful. You sign up for the program and pay a certain amount per month depending on how much you print. The printer then sends out a notice when ink is running low and it automatically gets shipped to you so that you never run out of ink. I tend to stay away from printers because once I run out of ink I tend to never buy more so this would be so helpful.

004

005

Next we headed over to the Mobile Printing Station to try out the HP Cards app. Since I had already downloaded and checked out the app beforehand I knew exactly what I wanted to try printing. The app is super simple to use. You just pick a category and a template and then you can add a photo from your camera roll or from Instagram or Facebook. There a few color choices for each template and you can also edit the text.

011

010

005

We also got to try out the HP Social Media Snapshot app. This app is really handy because you can print out pictures directly from Facebook and Instagram. You also have a choice of templates for this one. It also automatically takes the caption you wrote from your photo and adds that in but you can also edit it or delete it all together. Our pictures also printed on the new sticky back photo paper.

014

012

013

006

Also a part of the Mobile Printing Station was the Living Photo Wall. There was a photo printed out from each of us and the photos were all displayed on the wall. This is where we used our like stickers. Everyone had 5 stickers to put on their 5 favorite photos and the picture with the most likes won a prize.

025

026

Next we went over to the Innovation Garage where we got to learn about some new products that are currently in development. One of these was the Hashtag Printers. As you might guess the printers can be setup to print pictures from a certain hashtag. We got to see this firsthand because all of the pictures we tagged with #MyPrintly printed at the event. I can see this technology working really well for events or even family vacations. You could come up with your own unique hashtag and set your pictures to automatically print.

Here are my prints from the HP Social Media Snapshots App and the Hashtag printer.

After checking out the Innovation Garage we grabbed some food and started on the MyPrintly Social Media Station which included frame and cupcake decorating.

When we had finished decorated our frame and cupcakes an ice cream sundae bar was brought out, raffle winners were picked, and I was able to get in a bit more printing before it was time to go.

I had a lot of fun at this event and enjoyed learning about all the new products. Thank you to MyPrintly and BSM Media for the great event!
