*Disclosure: We received a complimentary Strawbees Imagination Kit to help write this post. All opinions are my own honest opinions.*

What would you build to ground everyone if gravity was suspended for a day? You are a plant who loves all types of music. What can you build to collect sound waves of the world? These are the types of questions asked in the Strawbees Imagination Kit.

The boys were super excited to check out this kit. JT especially loves to build so he couldn’t wait to open it and start creating.

Included in this kit are 400 pieces to build with, the Strawbees Pocketful of Ideas which contains 105 challenge cards, and a Strawbees activity book.

Inside Strawbees Imagination Kit

The Strawbees Imagination Kit is a completely open-ended kit that encourages kids to explore STEAM concepts. Kids can easily play together or by themselves. Strawbees challenges them to experiment, draw and sketch their ideas, and create prototypes to solve different challenges. Kids can choose from Inventor challenge cards or the crazy inventor challenge cards. The inventor cards have challenges like construct a house in the jungle or design an underwater car. The crazy inventor cards have questions like the opening questions in this post. Kids of course can also create whatever they want with their Strawbees Imaganition Kit and can also try including different materials in their inventions besides just straws and Strawbees.

Check out some of the inventions the boys came up with.

The first challenge card the boys chose was from the inventor set of cards. The challenge was to make a device that writes in another language. They both basically created a tablet. You input your text and what language you want it written in onto the tablet and then the tablets have a pen that is connected and writes the text. Connor’s also includes a piece that scans the surface of the paper.

The next challenge came from the crazy inventor set. The challenge was you are digging and accidentally slip down a secret tunnel into a cave with a running river. Create something to help you escape!

JT made a ladder to escape. Connor made two inventions. First he made a grappling hook and then he decided to make a jet pack.

While Connor was creating his jet pack for the first crazy inventor challenge, JT decided to create something for a different crazy inventor challenge. This challenge was you have to cross through a room made of marshmallows! What can you create to keep yourself from sticking to the floor? He created an extendable bridge. He also ended up making a remote for the bridge later. This invention is one example of how kids can add different materials to their Strawbees inventions. His bridge wouldn’t stand up on it’s own so he used LifeSavers candy as feet for the legs of the bridge.

The boys had so much fun creating and playing with Strawbees. They were even able to have a battle with their inventions.
